Team Columbia 1.jpg
Team Columbia has a focus on emergency communication preparedness and is open to everyone. Learning and practicing GMRS radio skills is a valuable asset needed in every community. Essential learning skills include proper radio etiquette, knowledge of frequencies, Band Plan, and Net Control Station operations. Team Columbia will be learning and practicing how to relay emergency traffic from FRS and GMRS neighborhoods up the line to Amateur radio stations who continue this process up to the appropriate dispatchers during power and cell phone blackouts. It is recommended (but not required) that participants have an Amateur Rdio License. At a minimum, members of this group should have a basic understand of how Amateur radio operators provide critical communications during emergencies situations. Thank You for interest, and I encourage you to become a leader in your neighborhood, and amongst this group of dedicated community volunteers.

Practice NETS are held every Tuesday night at 7:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors in a fun and relaxed radio session and learn the basic format of how an emergency Net will be conducted when the need arises (not if, but when).
