Book study is good, however I prepared for the test by taking the "Practice Amateur Radio Exams" at https://www.qrz.com/ where you have the opportunity to answer the questions that will be on the real test. Thirty five questions for the technicians class are puled from a pool of 400 that are the same as you may get when you take the test. If you pass on the practice test then you know you are ready to go for it. If not it is a good indicator that you need more study.

There is no fee to take the practice test. Just register (they do not send you any spam) then go to the resources tab and click on "Practice Amateur Radio Exams."
